As a County Supervisor, Mariko helped improve delivery of social services and fought to protect agricultural land and open space. She opposed construction in the flood plain and rejected a pay raise for Supervisors while rank-and-file County employees were being furloughed to close a budget gap. This year she stood up against a raise for county executive staff in the face of more difficult budget times.
