Off to college?

My last entry mentioned Juana, who works so many hours she can not attend school to learn English.

I was the first and only person in my family to graduate from college, and then I went on for a master’s degree. My eldest daughter just graduated USC in May; my other daughter will be a senior at UCSD. They were lucky and our family has been fortunate to get them through, but the cost of an undergraduate education is staggering and was nearly out-of-reach for us. Educational inflation, like medical inflation, is an issue we must address for the economic security and well-being of the next generation.
